| Overlooking the Bourke Luck's Potholes |
One of the blessings of having family come visit is that we
get to go places we probably never would have gone on our own. This week we
stayed outside the town of Hazyview at
Sabie River Bush Lodge. We highly
recommend this small lodging facility. It has rondavel rooms and tented rooms.
The staff was excellent. They greeted us with warm washcloths before we got out
of the Bakkie and they even washed the Bakkie twice. The meals were a delight
as was the atmosphere. We ate on an open air deck where we enjoyed watching
monkeys play one morning at the river.

We booked a game drive with Sydney of the lodge into
Kruger National Park. He was not a “professional guide” but we managed to see 4 of the
big 5: elephant, leopard, Cape buffalo and lion. We had a picnic breakfast at
Skukuza rest camp which seemed like a bustling community within itself.

The next day we took a side trip on the way home to Blyde
River Canyon. It was absolutely gorgeous. One can’t help but appreciate the magnificence
of God’s creation when traveling around this canyon. We visited Bourke’s Luck
Potholes, the three rondavels and God’s window.

Lord, thank you for the blessing of being able to explore
some beautiful parts of South Africa with my parents.
